Its been like 4 days since I left the comfort zone of my own home and stepped into a different culture. I do miss home, but its fun being here. Its really a mixture of feelings. Cant wait for someone to come and help us (alison, jeannie, pau and mi) set up the msn connection. Its gonna happen only on the 2nd or 3rd of Jan. Guess what... web cam is like so not allowed here, cant remember the reason, but u just cant use it.

We went to the bank yesterday to setup our account, it was quite hassel free as the lady serving us was very helpful and guided us through the steps. All our accounts were set up in less than an hour. The only bad thing was that we couldnt take money out or exchange money as it was a saturday and there is no exchange rate. So we gotta wait till like 2nd or 3rd before we can do so, as its new year.

Learnt that for the new year, students in ittb who live nearby would go home for celebration. It is very common to spend you new year at home with the family..After opening our acct, we went to a nearby shop to buy iitb stuff. I bought 2 T-shirts and postcards (hoping to write home someday) After our little shopping, we met up with the Abinav, he is the student rep in charge of taking us around. We walked to a nearby shopping centre HN, technically if they say its nearby its like at least a fifteen mins walk. HN was very impressive (as in the exterior), we didnt really spend time shopping, as he only brought us to see where HN is and we headed to a supermarket to buy toilet paper and daily neccessities. After buying quite a few items, we took an auto rickshaw back to iitb (which is like the TUK-TUK in Thailand)

Back in campus, we dropped by hall 13, which is a guy's hall, to take a look at Abinav's hall and to visit the little shop there. I got my extension plug from the shop and slippers for bathing. Hall 12 and 13 was magnificant, its like super grand and we called it paradise. Hall 13 had a balcony with a very nice view of powai lake and they have entertainment centre, carrom board and a very big computer room.

After our tour of hall 13, we went back to hall to have tiffin. Over here we have 4 meals a day and we go to the canteen and eat as much as you want. The four meals are- Breakfast, Lunch, Tiffin (Tea) and Dinner. The ggod thing is that the menu changes everyday, so its like a big surprise for us everytime we step in for meals. Am getting accustom to the food here, and I love the chapati (do i spell it this way??) which has replaced rice as my staple.

After tiffin, we went back to our room to clean up ourselves and the room and also to unpack our stuff. Pau went off at bout 7 to meet albert at the airport, and I parked myself in Jeannie's room. We decided to plan for our sunday trip (which is today). So we decided to go for a little shopping and check out if there is any countdown party.

During dinner, we asked the ladies cooking if we could learn how to cook chapati, and they are gonna teach us on monday... yeah!!!!!! Well all this took place with a lot of hand gesture and our broken Hindi. Thus we decided to learn 3 phrases everyday, and hope to be able to converse in Hindi. Thanks to Jeannie, she is really good at catching the language, and have been teaching us. We (alison, jeannie and I) even had a dance to help us say "how much is it". We laughed so hard that we got tired and went to bed.

Oops got to go brush up now... going for breakfast at 8.30.
